The programme, part of Lancashire County Council's Library Regenerate Programme, aims to create modern, attractive and flexible spaces from which staff can deliver the wide range of services, traditional and new, which meet the needs and expectations of local communities across the county.
The rundown premises at 2 and 6 Adelaide Street in Crawshawbooth are occupied by the county council as a library and a youth and community centre. No. 4 Adelaide Street is currently run as a clinic by the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust (PCT).
The proposed refurbishment will see the library double in size and include a new roof, windows, rewire, and heating system and improved thermal and fire resisting efficiencies.
