Welcome to the Lancashire County Information Centres' Website

The County Information Centres, were established in 1987 to give the people of Lancashire greater access to the services that the County Council provides. Centres were set up in each Borough within the County in either prominent High Street locations or on busy Bus Station sites to be accessible as possible.

In April 2003, the County Information Centres joined with the Lancashire County Library Service to form the Library and Information Service. We aim to provide improved access to services through working more closely with the Library service wherever possible, and this has seen innovative new ways of working in Fleetwood and Leyland Libraries to name but two. These new initiatives, which see CICs and Libraries working together under one roof, offer a seamless service to the customer and give increased choices in how information is accessed including longer opening hours and a wider range of information in one environment. These crosscutting initiatives have proved a great success, with enhanced service delivery for both the County Information Centre network and the Lancashire County Library service.
