Aim of the Group

The aim of the Group is to reduce road casualties through the delivery of Road Safety education, training and publicity to help make Lancashire a safer place in which to walk, cycle, ride and drive.

The Government has set challenging targets for road casualty reduction compared to the average for 1994-98:

  • a 40% reduction in the number of people killed or seriously injured in road accidents;
  • a 50% reduction in the number of children killed or seriously injured; and
  • a 10% reduction in the slight casualty rate, expressed as the number of people slightly injured per 100 million vehicle kilometres.
