The Joint Authorities have commissioned a study, undertaken in two stages, into the availability of sand and gravel deposits deposits in Lancashire and their potential to contribute to the County’s provision of these minerals. The importance of such work was recognised by the Inspector who conducted the Public Inquiry during 1998 into the Lancashire Minerals and Waste Local Plan. The Inspector recommended that, before the Plan is next reviewed, the County Council should examine the areas of potential high quality sand and gravel reserves, with a view to identifying possible locations for future provision.
Entec UK Limited were commissioned in November 2003 to undertake stage 1 of this 2-part study. Details of the study and the report of the consultant can be viewed and downloaded here.
