Minerals And Waste Forums
Local people are often the ones most directly affected by decisions on proposed minerals and waste developments. We have recognised that it is important to provide people with the opportunity to shape the Minerals and Waste Development Framework from the start. To assist the process we have already hosted a series of forums across the Joint Lancashire area.
We have established several MWDF forums that have met during 2005. At these forums, representatives from industry and business/environmental groups, Government agencies and our local communities have met to discuss the main issues surrounding mineral extraction and waste management. Through the forums, stakeholders and the community have had an opportunity to give their views and hear and debate the views of others, and ultimately influence the preparation of Local Development Documents. Outcomes of the forums have been used to inform the next stages of the planning process.
