The County Council is responsible for the definitive map. If a public right of way is shown on the definitive map it is conclusive evidence of the public's right along the right of way unless there has been a legally authorised change. There may also be additional public rights over land which has not yet been recorded on the map or there may be rights which are incorrectly recorded. The definitive map can be amended by legal order if evidence of missing rights of way is discovered or to correct errors in previously recorded information
We will provide prompt advice on the processes of modification and the appropriate application forms which are submitted to the Resources Directorate of the County Council and registered. We will complete the necessary historical research and assessments within 6 months of subsequent receipt from the Resources Directorate.
