The County Analyst and Scientific Advisory Service provides scientific advice and analytical services for consumer protection, environmental protection and health and safety purposes.
A Total Quality Management Policy is offered, integrating a computerised Laboratory Information Management System. Systems and analysis are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 : 2000 (UKAS), and complemented by participation in external performance assessment schemes including; FAPAS (food and agriculture analysis), FEPAS (food microbiological examination), RICE (asbestos counting), LEAP (leachate analysis), WASP (waste water analysis), AQUACHECK (water analysis), PHLS (microbiological examination), TOYTEST (toys analysis) and FOBS (food complaint investigation).
Public Analyst, Food Examiner and Official Agricultural Analyst appointments are held, together with Official Food Control Laboratory status for both food analysis and examination.
