Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA)
Lancashire County Council has, yet again, achieved the top rating from the Audit Commission.
The council has maintained its 'Four Star' status - the highest possible classification - and been given an 'improving well' rating for its potential for future improvement.
Beacon Status Award
Lancashire County Council has been awarded the coveted Beacon Status Award in recognition of its work in:
2006-07 Positive Youth Engagement (in the Community and Democratic Process)
2007-08 Healthy Schools
2008-09 Improving Accessibility
The Beacon Council Scheme was introduced as a result of the Government's 1998 White Paper 'Modernising Local Government: In Touch with the People'. The aim of the scheme is to identify centres of excellence in local government from which other councils can learn. Beacon status is awarded to councils who have shown innovation and excellence.
Annual Delivery Plan
The Annual Delivery Plan (ADP) for 2008-9 brings together in one document our strategic objectives, priorities for the coming year and targets for delivering improved services. It will be monitored by executive directors and county councillors on a quarterly basis. Our year end performance will be published on the internet at the end of June 2008 and will also be summarised in Vision later on in the year.
The Annual Delivery Plan will be reviewed each year to make sure what we do accurately reflects our priorities which should meet the needs and expectations of Lancashire people.
Last year was very successful. We achieved many of our aims and objectives, details of which can be found in the 'Making it happen' section of the plan.
The Annual Delivery Plan will have a major influence on our business plans.
