Did you know?

Accrington Football Club - later known as Accrington Stanley - was a founder member of the English Football League

Hyndburn lies right at the very heart of Lancashire's Hill Country, within easy reach of the coast, the beautiful scenery of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, and the cosmopolitan City of Manchester. It makes a great base for touring, with beautiful green valleys and the West Pennine Moors all within minutes of attractive stone-built towns.

The main town of Hyndburn is Accrington, famous for its football club and much more besides! Much of the town is now a Conservation Area, with attractive Victorian stone buildings, a wonderful market in Lancashire’s oldest market hall, and traditional specialist shops. Its history includes the story of the ‘Accrington Pals’, many of whom tragically lost their lives at the Battle of the Somme.

The Haworth Art Gallery houses one of the most prized collections of Picture: Stockley's SweetsTiffany Glass in the world. Elsewhere in Hyndburn you’ll find beautiful countryside walks, cruises along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and a choice of five golf courses among other excellent sporting facilities.

Visit Oswaldtwistle Mills, an Aladdin’s cave of crafts, gifts, fabric and much more, and Stockley’s Sweets Visitor Centre where you can see cinder toffee, sweets and caramel being made in front of your eyes.

And when you’re ready to relax in the evening, Hyndburn has a whole host of entertainment facilities to choose from.

Manufacturing is still one of Hyndburn’s key strengths, with 30% of employees working in manufacturing industries, compared to the national figure of 15%. Hyndburn is already home to major companies such as MyTravel, Simon Jersey, Senator International, Karrimor and Piolax, as well as many companies in the rapidly growing service sector.
