Children and young people' services grants

The Children and Young People's Services Directorate would seek to support activities that will work towards the following priorities:

  • Activities where positive outcomes for children are clearly identified relating to the five outcomes within the Every Child Matters agenda and particularly from organisations who provide services in respect of the effects of domestic violence on children.

The five outcomes within the Every Child Matters agenda are as follows:

  1. Being healthy
  2. Staying safe
  3. Enjoying and achieving
  4. Making a positive contribution
  5. Economic well-being

In making a decision on funding, the Cabinet Member for Children and Young People will take into account whether:

  • the use of the funding supports the priorities and objectives of the county council's Children and Young People's Services Directorate;
  • the organisation provides efficient and effective services that complement or enhance the county council's core statutory services
  • the applicant can give strong evidence of ability to achieve positive improvements in children and young people's lives in line with the Government's "Every Child Matters Outcomes Framework"

This may include, for example: reducing teenage pregnancy, reducing substance misuse which affects children's lives, keeping children safe, reducing the effects of domestic violence, preventing family breakdown.
