Learning with Lancashire Museums: A chance to embrace the new 'Cultural Offer for Young People'

Welcome to the NEW Simply Schools programme for this academic school year.

At Lancashire Museums we want you and your pupils to love museums just as much as we do! Our aim is to create an enjoyable and inspiring learning environment for your students, giving them the chance to appreciate and understand Lancashire's rich heritage by accessing our collections and visiting our wonderful venues.

• We offer safe places to explore, and aim to energise your pupils in stimulating environments.
• The chance to unleash inspiration and encourage creative thinking with our practical sessions including 'Fibres & Fabrics' at Helmshore Mills Textile Museum. Or experience life in Lancashire over 1000 years ago with 'The Vikings are Coming' session at Lancaster Maritime Museum.
• Actively participate in new and different experiences with our annual Special Events Weeks based on varied topics hosted by many of our museums.

All this is tailored to meet the changing needs of the National Curriculum and QCA Schemes of Work. We work closely with teachers to meet individual needs and reinforce classroom learning.

At our museums, we make sure teachers and adults on school trips visit us for FREE (except at Lancaster Castle).

Teachers are also invited to make a FREE preliminary site visit to all the venues listed in the Simply Schools booklet.  Please ring beforehand to make an appointment, so we can prepare for your visit.
